The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) views with utter disdain the uncalled for allegation by Winston Felix that the staff at the General Register Office (GRO) is engaged in corrupt practices.
To publicly chastise his own staff accusing them of engaging in corruption must be demoralizing for staffers who are known to be diligent and professional.

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo today questioned plans by the APNU+AFC government to borrow US$2B from U.S oil company Exxon Mobil. Jagdeo said such a move will put Guyana ‘in the pocket’ of the oil giant as the country will not be able to negotiate on even terms.
He also said the move to borrow from the U.S company appears designed to avoid the rigorous transparency and accountability demands of the more reputable international financial lending institutions such as the IDB and World Bank.
Jagdeo was at the time speaking during a press conference hosted at Freedom House.
