People’s Progressive Party (PPP) General Secretary Clement Rohee on Monday described Government’s proposed one to 10 percent increase for public servants as another case of “meat for the boys, bones for the workers”.

PPP expects rule of law to prevail in trial of former Health Minister

BheriPeople’s Progressive Party (PPP) General Secretary Clement Rohee on Monday told the media that his party expects the rule of law to prevail in regards to the trial of former Health Minister, Dr Bheri Rmsarran.

Dr. Ramsaran is currently before the court being accused of using insulting language against APNU+AFC activist Sherlina Nageer. The incident is alleged to have taken place on Monday 20th April, 2015, outside the Whim Magistrate’s Court. The verdict is expected to be given very shortly. Granger’s “Our Constitution is our supreme law” comment seen in same light with Burnham’s “Declaration of Sophia”

“Our Constitution” is our supreme law, President David Granger declared on Friday at the opening of the 19th Biennial Delegates Congress of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR).

Ramjattan says higher Police salaries not possible as other government employees will demand increases

policeDespite a 2015 elections campaign promise to increase police salaries by 20 percent the A Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) coalition is now saying it is not possible as other government employees would also demand increases.

Peoples Progressive Party General Secretary described the decision to relocate the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology as just one of the just one of the many injustices brought against Amerindians by the APNU+AFC coalition government.
The Government announced earlier this month via a short statement that the artefacts will be relocated to facilitate departments of the Ministry of the Presidency. There were also reports that men dressed in military clothing entered the Museum and ordered staff there to start preparing for relocation. Threat, not suit, the cause of coalition government’s billion dollar pay-out to BK

As the controversy over Government’s decision to pay a whopping US$5.7M out-of-court settlement to businessman Brian Tiwari continues yet another revelation is making the rounds.

A local publication reported on Tuesday that while various officials of the state sought to defend the settlement by claiming that had the government decided to challenge any suit it would have risked losing double the amount, the reality is that Tiwari’s company never moved to the court for compensation. Van-West Charles business partner a convicted drug trafficker/deportee – Hired as Manager of GWI’s Debt Recovery Unit

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Guyana Water Inc. (GWI), Dr. Richard Van-West Charles is under the spotlight once again after a local publication revealed over the weekend that he hired a convicted drug trafficker as Manager of the state entity’s Debt Recovery Unit.

According to the report, immediately upon taking up the reins at the water company Van-West Charles hired Lear Goring, a close friend and business partner as Manager in Debt Recovery Unit.
