The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) says it notes with interest attempts by some member states of MERCOSUR to take over the presidency jointly from Venezuela for this coming semester.
In a statement released on Thursday September 29th the party said Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, in a joint statement called on Venezuela to speed up the ratification of the agreements of the regional mechanism or face the possibility of suspension from the bloc.
Drug trafficker Barry Dataram was Tuesday fined GYD$164,268,000 and sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for being in possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. However, the self-confessed drug trafficker was not on hand to hear the verdict nor face the sentence. Reports are that he fled the country to Suriname via the back-track route and using false travel documents.
