The consideration of estimates for the 2017 Budget commenced on Tuesday a number of allocations have raised eyebrows.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon was questioned in relation to some $285.5M allocated for works on the office and residence of President David Granger, as well as the provision of “facilities”.

Norton in spotlight over instructions issued to Food and Drug Head – PPP/C MPs call for its withdrawal

It was reported in another section of the media that the Minister ordered Cole to release a consignment of goods imported by Sueria Manufacturing Incorporated. The company is owned by Frank Sanichara, son-in-law of Kaieteur News publisher and coalition government supporter, Glen Lall. PPP supports civil society call for Budget review dialogue – Says public servants deserve more than bonus

The Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) wants more to be done for Public servants this Christmas season. This sentiment was expressed by General Secretary of the party, Clement Rohee at a press conference held on Tuesday.

PYO EXPRESSES SYMPATHY FOLLOWING PASSING OF GMSA HEAD

indexThe Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO) – the youth arm of the People’s Progressive Party – has expressed deep sympathy with the wife, daughters, other relatives and friends of the late Eon Caesar, President of the GMSA.

Caesar died last Friday afternoon in Trinidad after a brief but severe illness. He was 47 years old. Private Sector Commission (PSC) Executive Member Ramesh Dookhoo had stated that Caesar died in hospital in the Twin-Island Republic where he had been on life support. OPPOSITION MP’S JOIN PROTEST AGAINST BUDGET 2017

As the Budget debates began on Monday in the National Assembly, scores of persons gathered in front of the Parliament Building protesting against the tax implementations outlined in the Budget 2017 presentations.
